School is just around the corner

School will be starting next week Wednesday. I cannot wait for school, I can't wait to reunite with my friends and teachers. I also can't wait to tell my teacher that I have been blogging for the past summer. So far the holidays has been going great. Usually on week days me and my family just relax and do some cleaning in the house, and in the Weekends me and my family go to our grandparents house to check on them and during the weekends we also go to church.Living at home is relaxing and all, but boredom hits quickly. Now I get to be surrounded by fun and excitement 24/7. There will always be someone to talk to, hang out with and to study with too.

I know that many of you that's reading my post are thinking that this crazy girl is thinking of school way too early. Maybe I am, and maybe I'm not. I am really excited to go to school to get my brain working, to meet my friends, especially when it's been 5 - 6 weeks off of school. I also can't wait to go to school because I want to improve in my learning and to achieve and accomplish my goal for 2018. Just before when school starts, I want to make sure that everything is organized such as my school shoes, my school bag, school uniform, lunchbox and of course my chrome book or writing book.

While writing this blog post, I have the biggest smile on face, as you all know why "BECAUSE I CAN'T WAIT FOR SCHOOL" :)   Well I am finish for the night, I hope you guys enjoy the rest of your holidays. Rest well and comment down below if you are excited for school.

Let’s imagine that you’ve just learned to drive, and your family has decided to buy you a brand new car. You are allowed to choose from any of the following designs:

Red-Cadillac-750x443.jpghummer.pngflying car (2).jpg

On your blog please tell us which of the three cars you would choose and why.

The car that I would choose will have to be the black one, because the other too cars looks like its complicated to drive and to control the car but the black one looks like a normal car and looks easy to drive on and can also be a family car.

It may be hard to imagine, but one day you will graduate from high school and it will be time to decide what to do next. You may want to study at university, become an apprentice, go to training college, travel, or start working. There are so many options!

Take a minute to think about your future. What would you like to do when you finish school? Would you like to work in a specific job? Would you like to study at university? What would you study? Maybe you’d even like to move overseas. Share your thoughts and ideas on your blog site. There are no wrong answers!

In the future I want to study to be a guidance counsellor. But first when I want to be one I want to go to university and finish up my studies so that I can move on and become what I want to be. I am only 14 years old and I am already thinking on what i should do when I finish or retire from becoming a Counsellor, I don't know weather I will become one or even go to university but I do know that I will try my best and there will be no one who stops me from reaching my dream.

A number of New Zealand (NZ) singers and songwriters have recently burst onto the music scene, becoming popular both in NZ and overseas. One of these artists, Lorde, is gaining a lot of recognition for her unique style and songwriting ability. People all over the world seem to really like the lyrics (words) that she writes in her songs.

Think of your favourite song. Share the name of the song, the name of the person who wrote the song and the lyrics from the song on your blog. You must type the lyrics not cut and paste them in order to earn full points for the activity.

Here is my Favourite song

Inspiration by Fiji

verse one:
So many years gone by
I don't seem to know the reason why baby,
The most important thing in life
is for me to never make you cry baby I,
I've been disappointing you in every single way
And i'm really trying the best that I can
Sometimes it's hard for a man to admit it
When he's wrong, his own pride is the reason for his downfall

You are my Inspiration
The only reason why i'm still standing here today
You are my Inspiration
I will never leave your side
Til the day I die (ooh baby)

verse two:
You know your wish is my command
And it's hard to change me I really understand baby,
Responsibility's at hand and it really calls for a man to be a man baby I,
I have been a fool too long
And I really need to stop making excuses and sad songs
And face the music that's been playing to the beat of my heart for so long
baby i could never imagine me being with just one person for all this time
So I gotta tip my hat on to the one and only true love of my life

You are my inspiration
the only reason why i'm still standing here today
You are my inspiration
I will never leave you side
Til the day i die
If i didn't let you know i gotta let you know.
You are my inspiration
the only reason why i'm still standing here today
You are my inspiration
I will never leave your side
Til the day I die (Til the day I die)
You are my inspiration
the only reason why i'm still standing here today
You are my inspiration
I will never leave your side
Til the day I die.

Activity 2: Country Calendar
Did you know that the longest running television show in New Zealand history is a programme called ‘Country Calendar’? It started on 6 March 1966 and has been running ever since. The programme includes stories of everyday New Zealanders, many of whom are farmers.

Watch this short clip from Country Calendar. What do you think would be the most interesting and/or challenging things about being a farmer? Would you would like to be a farmer when you are older. Why/why not? Give us, at least, two reasons to support your answer.

I would love to be a farmer so I can feed different animals, and we can also harvest many things like corn, cabbage, carrots and many different other vegetables. But one of the challenging things in being a farmer is that you have to always keep an eye out on your animals and also planting. other challenging thing in becoming a farmer is that you have to work everyday and always feed your animals and to clean up there mess.

In late 2016, the movie Moana was released by Disney. It’s a beautiful story about a young Polynesian girl from the fictional island of Motunui, who goes on a big adventure.

Watch the trailer for Moana and then write a summary of the movie on your blog. If you’ve seen the movie, you can include your favourite part! Tell us as much as you can about the movie. What is it about? Who are the main characters in the movie? What do they do in the movie? Where do they go?

What is the movie about? It is about a teenager names Moana, who sails out on a daring mission to save her people and island. During her journey, Moana meets the once-mighty demigod Maui, who guides her to become a master wayfinder. both Moana and Maui sail across the open ocean to find the heart of Tefiti and restore it back.

My favorite part of the movie is when Grandma Tala, sadly passed but is now a Stingray. What I also like about the movie are the songs, My favorite songs from Moana are, We know the way, I am Moana and Your Welcome

Some people prefer Modern Learning Environments while others aren’t so sure. Take a look at the pictures above. The one on the left is a photograph of a traditional classroom, and the picture on the right is of a Modern Learning Environment.

Imagine that you are a teacher, and design your own classroom. What would it look like? What furniture would you have? I would love to have some beanbags for reading on.

Draw a floorplan of your classroom (either in Google Draw or on paper) and upload it to your blog. Describe what is special about your classroom and why you designed it this way.

I’ve drawn a classroom with pink carpet and bright coloured tables. I also included a kitchen so that we can do cooking every day and a HUGE bookshelf because I love to read! What would you like to see in your classroom?

This is my classroom, it has a big navy blue carpet, It has 3 chairs, the 2 round tables are for the student and the rectangle is the teachers table. The 3 coloured oval shapes are Bean Bags and of course a big Library Shelf.

In 1996, New Zealand adopted the MMP voting system. In September of 2017 we had a national election. Everyone in New Zealand, over the age of 18, was invited to vote for who they wanted to form the next government in New Zealand. The race was really close and in the end, three different political parties (Labour, New Zealand First and the Green Party), came together to form the new government. It is called a ‘coalition government’ because it includes different people from different political parties.

Imagine that you had to form a coalition government with two other people.  Who would you choose to partner with?

I would form a coalition with my son, Aronui, and with my friend, Amber. Aronui would be a great addition to the coalitio

I would create a coalition with my cousin Latai and my other cousin Mele Seini. Latai is a very formal, creative and humble person and she is definitely a person that would make things right and make sure that everything is organised and sorted. Mele Seini is a very smart person, she is very reliable and anything that goes pass her she gets through it. Together as a team, I reckon we could go higher, This would be my coalition team.

Bonus Activity: Shake it Off
In recent years, many New Zealanders have embraced a new form of exercise called Zumba©. It was developed by a man named Alberto Perez who lives in the country of Columbia. He created Zumba by bringing together many different dance styles including: cumbia, mambo, hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, tango, merengue and mambo.

            The Merengue                                      The Tango

Choose one of the dance styles mentioned above and click on the name to read more about it. Once you are done, post three interesting facts about the dance style on your blog. In which country did it originate? Who originally created it?

  • This type of dance was originally from Cuba, which then spread to the USA which became really popular.

  • American soldiers were the first to notice the Salsa dance during the Cuban war of 1898.

  •  Cuba's Salsa is only the modern style of the dance, but its origin can be brought back to many other lands and parts of our history.

  • Many Jazz musicians started visiting Cuba to incorporate their Latin styles into their performances.

My Sports Superhero has to be Cathrine Latu, she is currently playing Netball for the Auckland Mytics team. Cathrine plays G.S in netball, I think that she is my hero or best sports player because she inspires me to try my best. Last year my netball team got to meet the Mystics and it was one of the best moments I have ever experienced in my life.

In 2015, a kiwi golfer named Lydia Ko became the youngest woman in the world to reach the #1 ranking.  She was only 17 years old. Many people from here in New Zealand and overseas really admire her and think of her as a modern-day sporting hero. Who is your sporting hero? They can be a famous athlete, or even a member of your family or community. It’s completely up to you.

On your blog tell us about your sporting hero. Who are they? Why are they a hero? Include a photo of them in your blog post.

My sporting hero is Lisa Carrington. She is an incredible rower, and last year she was awarded the prestigious  Lonsdale Cup for her amazing results in 2016! She spends hours training, and I think her commitment to her sport is inspiring.

Although most of you are quite familiar with the idea of taking a ‘selfie’ (picture of ourselves), this was not always the case. In fact, it wasn’t until the early 2000s that people started talking about the idea of a selfie, taking selfies and posting them online.

In honour of the rise in popularity of the ‘selfie,’ take a selfie and post it on your blog. Try to show us at least one of your hobbies or one your favourite things (maybe a special toy or book). For example, here is a selfie of Hazel drinking a big mug of tea, and Rachel with her son, Aronui, attending a Paw Patrol show!

This is my phone, My phone is with me 24/7, It is important to me because where ever I go, I always keep in touch with my family and I can use my phone to socialize with other people and my friends.

This is my special Book/Diary, I carry this with me everywhere. I use this book to draw and write, I have secrets that I haven't told anyone and I have special memories too.

If I was given $300 million dollars I would spend it on a lot of things.

- Spend for any of my school trips that will be coming up

- I would spend it on stuff that I will be needing at home

- I would buy clothes and shoes for my whole family

- I would share out money to my family

- I would save myself money from the $300 million and save it for myself so that I can go university

- I would buy so many food and drinks and give it to the homeless

When I spend some of the money on the list above, if I had extra's I would then by myself things like shoes, clothes, hair products, and many many things.
